Betty Verble Libby, 87, of Nashville, passed away on February 28, 2019. She was born in Monterey, TN on September 23, 1931, daughter of Coleman Verble and Tim (Verble) Holloway. Betty's strengths were evident beginning at age 17 when she moved to Nashville. Her career began at the Baptist Sunday School Board and transitioned to the Southern Baptist Foundation, a career lasting 47 years. Her love of country & bluegrass music led her to a part time job at the Grand Ole Opry, where befriended people from all over the world. Her charismatic personality uplifted families in their time of need in the Ronald McDonald Family Room at the Vanderbilt Children's Hospital. Betty will be sorely missed by daughter, Susie Rice, grandson Daniel/wife and two great grandchildren, of Nashville; sisters Alma Tudor and Linda Whitaker (Whit) of Monterey and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband Skip Libby, siblings Bobby Pierce, Fran Richardson, Frank Verble, Donald (Red) Verble, and Brenda Parrott. Merle L. Jones, Age 77, Passed Away On Thursday, November 29, 2018, In Cookeville, Tennessee. Merle Was Born On March 2, 1941, In Muskegon, Michigan, To The Late Franklin And Vivien (Hansen) Jones. Merle Enlisted In The Air Force At The Age Of 17. He Was A Veteran Of The Vietnam War And Served In The Air Force For Over 21 Years. He Worked As An Automatic Flight Control/Avionics System Superintendent And As A Photographic Specialist. His Last Duty Assignment Was In The 9th Avionics Maintenance Squadron (SAC). Merle Was Proud Of His Military Career And Retired As A Senior Master Sargent In 1979. Merle Lived In Tucson, Arizona, Where He Worked For Gates Lear Jet And The City Of Tucson As A Communications Technician. Merle Finished His Career With Sprint As The Supervisor Of The Switch And Field Technicians. He Is Survived By His Wife, Betty Jones; And Children, Brian (Meghan) Soop, Brandon (Wendi) Soop, Genean Laro, Patricia (Christopher) White, Victoria (Eric) Molt, Gene (Laura) Jones, Michael Blair; Son-In-Law, Michael Gryder; Brother, Gerald (Denny) Bea Jones; And Numerous Grandchildren And Great Grandchildren. In Addition To His Parents, He Was Preceded In Death By Brothers, George (Tiny) Jones And Michael Jones; And Daughters, Cheryl (Jones) Gryder And Pamela Jones. We Will Miss His Military Stories And His Friendship But Most Of All, His Love And Guidance.
