Thomas H. "Tom" Maxwell, Jr., P.E., Age 81, Of Miami, Florida, Passed Away On Thursday, January 19, 2017, At Standing Stone Care And Rehabilitation Center In Monterey, Tennessee. Mr. Maxwell Was Born On August 24, 1935, In Lake Wales, Florida, To The Late Thomas Hayes Maxwell And Leoma Bradshaw Maxwell. Mr. Maxwell Graduated From Georgia Institute Of Technology In 1958 With A Bachelor Of Mechanical Engineering, Co-Op Degree. He Was A Member Of TKE, Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. He Was Also A Member Of The Army ROTC And Then Served As An Officer In The United States Army Corps Of Engineers Attaining Rank Of Captain And Received An Honorable Discharge. He Had 58 Years Of Experience In the Practice Of Civil And Mechanical Engineering. His Experience Included Working With AB2MT, Consultants, Inc., In Coral Gables, Florida; 9 Years As Plant Engineer With FP&L, Florida Power And Light Company In Miami, Florida; 2 Years As Assistant Chief Estimator At Sargent & Lundy Consulting Engineers In Chicago, Illinois; 6 Years As Principal/Partner At Smith-Korach-Hayet-Haynie Partnership In Miami, Florida; And 4 years As Vice President And Director Of Civil Engineering At Ferendino/Grafton/Spillis/Candela In Coral Gables, Florida. He Spent His Remaining Years In Private Practice In Miami, Florida. He Received Numerous Awards Including The Owens-Corning Fiberglass Corporation's Industrial Division 1972 Energy Conservation Award For The Most Outstanding Industrial Plant Energy Conserving Design Features.
