On February 5, 2016, Evelyn Rose Wakefield, Age 86, Made A Spiritual Journey Back To Her Roots In Mayland, Tennessee, Where She Was Born On March 30, 1929, To Martha Hazel And James Dewitt Cooper. Her Life Journey Is Remembered By Her Son, Donald Scott Wakefield Of Monterey, Tennessee; Her Daughter, Dale Wakefield Roberts (Jamie) Of Watkinsville, Georgia; Grandchildren, Jaclyn And Jenna Wakefield, Jamie Roberts (Tonja), Justin Roberts (Jessica); Great Grandchildren, Holly And Riley Roberts, Turner And Eliza Jane Roberts. Evelyn Graduated From Pleasant Hill Academy In 1946, And Went On To Pursue A Degree At Tennessee Technological University In Accounting. She Became A State Auditor Of Nursing Homes And Was Well Respected In Her Field. She Was An Active Member Of The Democratic Woman's Club And Was Avidly Interested In Politics. She Worked As A Campaign Assistant For Senator Anna Belle Clement O'Brien, Travelling Extensively. The Two Were Not Only Neighbors At Lake Tansi But Close Friends. Evelyn Was A Devoted Mother, Grandmother, And Friend To Many. She Cherished The Good Times And Always Wanted The Whole Family Together At One Time, No Matter The Space Limitations. Her Passions Were The News, Cats, Pottery, Antiques, And Heirlooms. She Was Also One Of The Best Cooks In The Upper Cumberland. In Lieu Of Flowers, The Family Request Memorial Donations Be Made To The Mayland Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 214, Crossville, Tennessee 38557. Her Wishes Of Cremation Have Been Honored. A Celebration Of Evelyn's Life Will Be Announced At A Later Date.

During His 30 Years Of Work With The Postal System, He Served As The Postmaster Of The Crawford, Tennessee, Branch From 1980-1985, As A Manger Of The Cookeville/Willow Branch Office From 1985-1995, And As The Postmaster Of The Alpine, Tennessee, Office From 1995-2005. He Also Worked At The Anderson Community Convenience Center For The Past 10 Years. He Was Initiated Into The Masons In 1967 And For Years He Was A Member Of The Shiloh Masonic Lodge #637, Where He Was The Past Master Several Times.
